The Snitch At McDonald’s Altoona Equals ‘Good ol Police Work’
Bruce an old colleague of mine once told us about a situation that occurred when he was a teenager. He’d seen a reward in the CrimeStoppers section of the newspaper offering $1,000 in exchange for information about broken windows at a nearby school.
Days before that, Bruce had been walking home with a couple of his friends when one of them mentioned that it was too early for him to go home and that a friend of his was waiting for him at a nearby school, where they were planning to get drunk and break some windows. That friend proceeded to change directions and headed toward the school.
Bruce and the other boys proceeded home.
Bruce decided to show the ad to his dad one evening and told him what information he had. Like a good law-abiding citizen, his dad set up a meeting with a detective, who invited them down to the station.
Long story short, the detective wasn’t too happy to hear that Bruce wasn’t involved in the window breaking! As he and his dad stood up to leave, the detective grabbed Bruce’s shoulder firmly enough to spin him around and told him, “Until I can prove otherwise, I know you did this.”
