Are CEOs scared enough to demonstrate whatever’s left of their humanity after the fatal shooting of one of their own? It appears so. A day or so after UnitedHealth Group’s CEO, Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot on his way to an investor meeting, we’re starting to see some of his friends start to pivot.

Take the case of Joe Erlinger president of McDonald’s USA appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ in some sort of rushed exclusive to ‘personally apologize’ for the deadly E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders, and to announce the return of the previously discontinued ‘Snack Wrap’, which he believes had a ‘cult following.

And the case of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield who announced yesterday that they were going to reverse a decision to cap anesthesia coverage after a set time limit — meaning that they would have used a physician’s ‘Work Time values’ set by an AI bot as the basis for determining how much anesthesia a patient ‘should have received’, and any claims that would have been submitted for a service that took longer than those set minutes would have been denied.
