We’ve got to bring humor into this conversation to really be human together on this one.

Race was the ostensible reason I guess a lot of people were paying attention to the run-off election in Georgia between Rev Dr. Warnock the incumbent and former NFL star and Heizman trophy winner Hershel Walker.

Whatever your opinion of either, it was a close race.

For the first time in recent memory, America had on the same ballot two diametrically opposed forms of Black masculinity.

Trump’s calculation I imagine, was to find another black man who could move through the question of race without incident. The reductionist view of people like Trump when they think about racial identity is ‘let’s get a Black man’ without understanding the complexity, nuance, and diversity that exists within any one community.

Also, the pick coming from a party that centers on the needs, desires, and humanity of White-Christian Americans was rather suspicious. He’s could have been another convenient cover for structurally racist GOP policies.
