Conservatism Is Becoming The New Sub-Culture. Is It More Difficult To Stay A Leftist?
Over the past few years, conservative Republicans have supplanted their party with individuals who conflate advocating for limited government with a deep-seated mistrust of government, and individuals who maintain logically inconsistent politics.
Let’s take this early opportunity to agree on one thing; Conservatism is dead and it was Trump and the MAGAs who killed it. What is also fairly clear looking back at the last election is that the 77 million people who voted for Trump were saying “no” to something.
No to rules. No to norms. No to government as we knew it. No to the criminal justice system. No to financial stability. No to competence. No to independent thought. No to equal opportunities, and most certainly a big fat no to ‘morality’.
The reason conservatism seems to have become the new subculture almost overnight is also partly because some leftists demand perfection from our community. It’s almost as if the liberation that we aspire to as leftists, has surprisingly arrived within our movement, unaccompanied by a single shred of open-mindedness, and the capacity for nuance.
