Bad History Matters: The Lies And Omissions In The Christian ‘Abeka’ Homeschooling Curriculum

Jason Aldean is what happens when the Children of MAGA grow up

--

Jason Aldean’s controversial song ‘Try That in a Small Town’ was officially released in May 2023, although the song’s music video first hit YouTube on July 14, sparking widespread criticism for its curious imagery.

The music video was soon after quickly and quietly edited to remove imagery that featured news clips from a Fox 5 Atlanta news segment, depicting violence during the Black Lives Matter protests which in the video, was projected onto the exterior wall of the Tennessee county courthouse where a Black teen, 18-year-old Henry Choate, was lynched in the 1920s.

Henry Choate was dragged from jail through the city by car to be lynched on the grounds of this courthouse, for ‘confessing’ to attacking a 16-year-old white girl who could not positively identify him as the assailant. But that’s beside the point.

On CBS Mornings, Aldean would appear to vocalize his ‘surprise’ at the outrage, at one point saying, ‘ ….You know, there was white people in there. There was Black people. I mean, this video did not shine light on one
